Apex delivers innovative wastewater upgrade for Raglan

Featuring an industry-leading Membrane Bioreactor (MBR)system coupled with Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor (MABR) technology, the plant is now capable of treating up to 6,000 cubic metres of wastewater per day. The solution delivers exceptional nitrogen and pathogen removal, enhanced energy efficiency and is fully scalable to meet future demand.

This upgraded facility significantly improves the quality of treated wastewater, contributing to healthier ecosystems and waterways, and supports the district’s projected growth through to 2070.

As one of only three sites in New Zealand to integrate MABR technology, this project reflects Apex’s commitment to cutting-edge, sustainable solutions that reduce the need for short-term upgrades while delivering long-term value.  A true collaboration between Apex and Watercare, supported by a skilled team of subcontractors and specialists. Together, we delivered a future-focused infrastructure asset that sets a new benchmark for wastewater treatment in Aotearoa.

The upgraded plant was officially opened by Waikato District Council Mayor Jacqui Church and Watercare Services Ltd and blessed by mana whenua.
