The project was initiated in response to a Boil Water Notice imposed by the water regulator, requiring an immediate and reliable treatment solution to restore compliant potable water supply to the township as quickly as possible.

Apex designed, manufactured, tested and commissioned a fully containerised UV water treatment plant off site before transporting the completed system to site ready for rapid installation and operation. The scope included:

Overall design, process, container, mechanical, structural, electrical, automation and controls. Container Modifications- plant room. Mechanical procurement and installation. Electrical installation, connection, integration and testing. Automation and control, integration and testing. Factory assembly and testing. Flushing and sterilisation and site commissioning.

A key success factor of the project was the speed of delivery. The contract was signed on 5 August 2025 and treated water was successfully delivered to the Havelock community on 25 September 2025.  An exceptional delivery timeframe of just over seven weeks from award to operational commissioning.
